Where these numbers come from
- Selling fees (eBay.com, non-Store sellers) — read 2026-09-08
One insertion fee per listing after the 250 free listings each month ($0.35; some categories differ). One final value fee when the item sells: a percentage of the total amount of the sale (item price + handling + shipping collected + sales tax + other applicable fees), calculated per item with tiers for most categories (13.6% up to $7,500 and 2.35% on the portion above), plus a per-order fee of $0.30 for orders of $10.00 or less and $0.40 for orders over $10.00. An international fee of 1.65% of the total sale applies when the buyer's delivery or registered address is outside the US and eBay International Shipping is not used. Sellers evaluated Below Standard pay an additional 6% (7% after four consecutive months); a Very High rate of 'item not as described' returns adds 5% (6%) in the affected categories — if both apply only the Below Standard fee is charged. Optional listing upgrades (bold, subtitle, gallery plus, reserve) are charged per listing.

- Auction-style listing example on the fees page: used smartphone, start $199, Buy It Now $400, free shipping, allowance used, meets performance expectations; sells at $400; total sale $424 with 6% sales tax. Page says: final value fee $58.06, insertion fee $0.35, total fees $58.41, net $341.59. Notes
- The page's worked examples apply the 6% sales tax to the item price with free shipping; this calculator applies the entered tax rate to price plus shipping, which matches eBay's 'total amount of the sale' definition.
- Tiered categories apply the lower rate only to the portion above the threshold; 'whole' categories (bullion, handbags, jewelry, athletic shoes) apply a single rate to the entire amount depending on which side of the threshold the total sale falls.
