GoFundMe fee calculator
An independent calculator, not GoFundMe: nothing to sign in to and nothing to pay here. Enter a sale amount and read the fees.
GoFundMe deducts 2.9% + 30¢ from each donation to a US personal or business fundraiser (2.2% + 30¢ for certified nonprofits) and nothing else — there is no platform fee and no fee to start. Donor tips are optional and paid on top by the donor.
The nightly check re-reads 9 of the 13 sentences quoted on this page; the rest are in tables or on pages that block automated reading and were verified by a person on 2026-09-08 (1 source page read by a person only).

US personal (individual or business) fundraisers pay one transaction fee per donation of 2.9% + $0.30, deducted automatically from each donation before transfer; the recipient receives the donation minus that fee and there is no fee to create or manage a fundraiser (0% platform fee). US certified-nonprofit fundraisers are charged 2.2% + $0.30 per donation. Donor tips to GoFundMe are optional, charged to the donor on top of the donation (never deducted from the fundraiser), adjustable to any amount including 0, and the organizer cannot see them. If a donor chooses a recurring (monthly) donation, the donor pays an additional 5% fee per recurring donation (not applicable to GoFundMe Pro). International transaction and currency-conversion fees may apply depending on the donor's payment method. Rounding is not stated; the platform's own example resolves to exact cents ($50 -> $48.25).
Checked against GoFundMe's own examples
The calculator reproduces every worked example the platform publishes; these are run as tests before any page is built.
- GoFundMe's own example: a $50 donation to a US fundraiser nets $48.25 after the 2.9% + $0.30 fee. Page says: total fees $1.75, net $48.25. "If a donor makes a $50 donation to a US fundraiser, the individual receiving funds will receive $48.25 once transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30) are deducted."
Not included
- Non-US country rates (e.g., Australia 2.2% + $0.30 individual / 1.9% + $0.30 nonprofit; UK/Ireland 2.9% + £0.25; EU 2.9% + €0.25; Mexico 2.9% + MXN 5; Switzerland 2.9% + CHF 0.30; Nordics 2.9% + 3 kr.)
- GoFundMe Pro custom platform pricing
- GoFundMe Giving Fund (donor-advised fund) fees
- Donor-side international transaction / currency conversion fees (vary by payment method)
- Donor tips (paid by donor on top of donation; not a deduction from funds raised)
Notes
- Tip default: no official page states a default tip percentage. The help center refers to 'the suggested tip amount' that donors adjust with a slider or custom entry and may set to 0; the organizer never sees it. Any specific default percentage found on third-party sites is unverified.
- Country mapping on the pricing page comes from its country selector as rendered: United States -> Individual or business 2.9% + $0.30; Certified nonprofit 2.2% + $0.30. Do not confuse with Australia, whose individual rate is also 2.2% + $0.30 (GST included).
- Charity rate: the current US pricing page shows 'Certified nonprofit' at 2.2% + $0.30; nonprofit tooling is otherwise sold as GoFundMe Pro (custom pricing, 'typically 2.2%–2.5% + $0.30', +1% Amex). The legacy GoFundMe Charity help page (charitysupport.gofundme.com) failed to load on three fetchers (TLS handshake failure); the 'Free tier 0% platform + 1.9% + $0.30 / Flex tier 3% platform + 2.2% + $0.30' figures visible only in search-engine snippets are UNVERIFIED and likely obsolete.
- Recurring-donation 5% fee is charged to the donor (it appears under 'Extra or larger than expected charge on statement'), so the fundraiser's net per recurring donation is still donation minus 2.9% + $0.30 unless GoFundMe states otherwise; a calculator author must decide whether to display it as a donor-side cost.
- The blog post dated April 20, 2026 still contains the stale phrase 'GoFundMe’s fees for 2022' but states the same 2.9% + $0.30 and 5% recurring figures.
- Payment methods covered by the single transaction fee per the help article: credit, debit, ACH, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay (for most fundraisers).
