Venmo fee calculator
An independent calculator, not Venmo: nothing to sign in to and nothing to pay here. Enter a sale amount and read the fees.
Venmo deducts 2.99% from a payment tagged as a purchase on a personal profile, 1.9% + 10¢ on a business profile (2.29% + 9¢ for Tap to Pay), and 1.75% (25¢ to $25) to move money out instantly. Sending funded by a credit card costs the sender 3%.
The nightly check re-reads 23 of the 23 sentences quoted on this page.

All Venmo fees are a percentage of the payment or transfer amount (some with a fixed cents add-on), deducted from the amount the recipient receives except the credit-card fee, which the sender pays. Sending money funded by a credit card costs the sender 3.00% (waived when paying a business or charity profile); sends funded by balance, debit card or bank are free. Instant Transfer to an eligible debit card or bank costs 1.75% of the transfer amount, minimum $0.25 and maximum $25, deducted from the transfer; standard transfers are free. Receiving a payment the sender tagged as for goods and services on a personal profile costs the seller 2.99% (no fixed part). Business profiles pay 1.9% + $0.10 of the payment total on every payment of $1.00 or more, or 2.29% + $0.09 for Tap to Pay contactless payments; charity profiles pay 1.9% + $0.10. Crypto buys/sells carry a tiered fee by amount (2.20% / 2.00% / 1.80% / 1.50%) plus a spread built into the exchange rate; PYUSD is fee-free. No rounding rule is published.
Checked against Venmo's own examples
The calculator reproduces every worked example the platform publishes; these are run as tests before any page is built.
- Venmo's own charity example: a $100 donation on a charity profile costs 1.9% + $0.10. Page says: total fees $2.00, net $98.00. "For example, if a donor sends $100.00 to a charity profile, $2.00 of that payment would be charged as a donation fee and the charity profile would receive $98.00."
Not included
- Venmo Debit Card (Mastercard) fees: out-of-network ATM $2.50, international ATM $2.50, over-the-counter withdrawal $3.00
- Venmo Visa Credit Card APRs and penalty fees (cash advance $10 or 5%, late/returned payment up to $41, paper statement $1.99)
- Cash a check (2.00% / 5.00%, minimum $6) and add cash at stores ($3.74)
- Sending to non-US PayPal accounts (5.00%, min $0.99 / max $4.99) and the 4.00% currency conversion spread
- Card-issuer cash-advance fees on credit-card-funded payments (charged by the issuer, not Venmo)
- Crypto network fees for external transfers and the exchange-rate spread
Notes
- The fee tables on venmo.com/resources/our-fees are present in the server HTML but hidden inside collapsed accordions; both plain-HTTP and browser-rendered markdown extractions returned only the section headings, so the values were extracted from the raw HTML.
- Tap to Pay fixed component conflict: the fee schedule page and both Tap to Pay FAQs say 2.29% + $0.09, while the 'Business Profile Transaction Fees' help article says 2.29% + $0.10. Two of three sources (including the legal fee disclosure) say $0.09.
- Goods-and-services conflict: the fee schedule says 2.99% for payments to a personal profile tagged as a purchase, but the Buying and Selling FAQ example ('$100 ... the recipient would get $98') implies 2% and looks stale (matches the older 1.9% + $0.10 rate).
- The $1.00 minimum payment for business/charity profile fees appears only in help articles, not on the fee schedule page; whether payments under $1.00 to a business profile carry any fee is unspecified.
- Instant Transfer: the 1.75% fee is deducted from the transfer amount (user receives amount minus fee); minimum $0.25 and maximum $25 apply per transfer.
- Credit-card-funded payments to business and charity profiles are exempt from the 3% sender fee (help articles); the fee schedule row states the 3.00% fee without listing that exemption.
- Business-profile and purchase-tagged seller fees are not refunded when the seller refunds the buyer.
- Crypto: the tiered percentages come from the fee schedule page; help articles only say the fee 'will vary based on the purchase or sale amount', and the PayPal Digital crypto terms say the exchange rate includes a spread and point to fee pages for amounts.
- The User Agreement body (which contains the same fee table) did not render (JS-loaded); only its effective date (August 24, 2026) was captured.
- No rounding rule is published on any loaded Venmo page.
- Venmo's help FAQ shows a personal-profile purchase example of $100 → $98 that contradicts the fee schedule's 2.99% ($97.01); the schedule is used and the FAQ example is not pinned.
