Whatnot takes an 8% commission on the item's final price (4% on coins and money) and 2.9% + 30¢ payment processing on the buyer's total including shipping and tax. In trading cards, comics, toys and several collectible categories the commission is 0% on the portion above $1,500 since January 2026.

Two fees are deducted per checkout transaction. Commission is a percentage of the item's final sale price (accepted offer/auction price after seller-generated coupons), excluding shipping and taxes: 8% in most US categories, 4% for Coins & Money (Coins & Bullion, Paper Money & Currency) and for the Pallets wholesale category (limited time). Payment processing is 2.9% of the total order value paid by the buyer at checkout (item + buyer-paid shipping + buyer-paid sales tax) plus a fixed $0.30 per transaction; it therefore varies with shipping and tax even for identical item prices. Since January 14, 2026, in select categories (Comics & Anime, Toys & Hobbies, Coins & Money, Trading Card Games, Entertainment Cards, Sports Singles subcategories, and from June 4, 2026 Bags & Accessories and Jewelry & Watches) the commission is 0% on the portion of an individual order's price above $1,500 while processing still applies to the full amount; sports breaks and surprise products are excluded. Net earnings = final sale price − commission − payment processing − any state tax on fees − any seller-covered shipping. Whatnot-issued coupons do not reduce the seller's price; giveaways carry no seller fees. The same schedule applies to live shows and marketplace (non-live) listings; for live sales the rate follows the show's category, for marketplace sales the product's category.

The calculator reproduces every worked example the platform publishes; these are run as tests before any page is built.
- Whatnot's own example: a $50 item with a $58.70 checkout total pays $4.00 commission (8%) and $2.00 processing (2.9% + $0.30 on $58.70) — $6.00 in fees, leaving $44.00. Page says: commission $4.00, processing fee $2.00, total fees $6.00, net $44.00. "Final sale price: $50 Commission (8%): $4 Total order value (including shipping and taxes): $58.70 Payment processing fee (2.9% of $58.70 + $0.30): $2.00 Your net earnings: $50 − $4 − $2 = $44.00"
- Whatnot's own high-value example: a $2,000 item in a qualifying category pays commission on the first $1,500 only — $120. Page says: commission $120.00. "You are US-based seller who sells an item in a qualifying category for $2,000 You will be charged standard commission (for the US, 8%) on the first $1,500. Your total commission fee will be $120. You will be charged 0% c"

Notes
- Live vs marketplace: the fee schedule does not differentiate live-show sales from marketplace (Buy It Now/offer) sales; the only stated difference is which category sets the rate (show category for live, product category for marketplace).
- Trading cards: Trading Card Games, Entertainment Cards and Sports Singles have the standard 8% commission but qualify for the 0%-above-$1,500 promotion; sports breaks and Surprise Products do not. Coins & Money is the only permanently reduced category (4%); Pallets (wholesale) is 4% 'limited time'.
- Electronics: the 'Reduced Commission on Electronics' article now returns 404 and Electronics is not a reduced row in the fee table; search-engine snippets citing a 5% electronics commission are stale/unverified. The snippet 'Seller fees are ≤8% (varies by category/country)' also comes from an older revision of the fee page.
- The high-value 0% promotion has no stated end date ('limited time'; Whatnot may end it at any time). Sell More, Earn More is a US-only test for a subset of sellers through at least November 1, 2026; a calculator should treat tiered rates as optional/conditional.
- Payment processing uses the buyer's total including sales tax, so an exact fee needs shipping and buyer tax as inputs; in Whatnot's own example 2.9% × $58.70 + $0.30 = $2.0023 is shown as $2.00 (rounded to cents).
- Taxes on fees: sellers in DC, HI, NM, WV pay state sales tax on the commission; sellers in CT (special 1% rate), HI, NM, OH, SD, TX (rate reduced by 20%), WV pay it on the payment-processing fee; these are deducted from earnings.
- Premier Shop discount (10% off the commission) is mentioned only in the Sell More, Earn More FAQ; eligibility terms were not on the loaded pages.
