Whatnot takes a commission on the item's sale price, 8% in most categories and 4% on coins at the Standard tier, and less as a seller's four-week sales grow (down to 4% to 6.5%, or 3.5% on coins), plus 2.9% + 30¢ payment processing on the buyer's total including shipping and tax. The tiered rates took effect September 21, 2026.

Two fees are deducted per checkout transaction. Commission is a percentage of the item's sale price; shipping and taxes paid by the buyer are not included. Since September 21, 2026 the rate depends on two things: the category group of the sale, and the tier the seller unlocked with total sales across all categories in the previous four-week period. US tiers: Standard $0 – $14,999, Tier 1 $15,000 – $34,999, Tier 2 $35,000 – $49,999, Tier 3 $50,000 – $99,999, Tier 4 $100,000 – $249,999, Tier 5 $250,000 – $499,999, Tier 6 $500,000+. US rates from Standard to Tier 6: Sports and TCG 8% falling to 6.5%; Fashion 8% falling to 4.5%; Other Collectibles 8% falling to 5%; Coins 4% falling to 3.5%; Other 8% falling to 4%. A rate is locked for the whole four-week period: crossing into a higher tier lowers the rate for the next period, not the current one, and tiers reset every 28 days. Payment processing is 2.9% of the total order value paid by the buyer (item price, buyer-paid shipping and taxes) plus a fixed $0.30 per transaction, and is not reduced by the tier. In select categories the commission is 0% on the portion of an individual order's price above $1,500, a limited-time promotion, while processing still applies to the full amount. For live sales the rate follows the category of the show; for marketplace sales, the category of the product.

The calculator reproduces every worked example the platform publishes; these are run as tests before any page is built.

• Whatnot's own example: a $10 item with $4.99 shipping and $0.85 sales tax pays an 8% commission on the $10 item price, $0.80. Page says: commission $0.80. "You sell a $10 item with $4.99 shipping and $0.85 in sales tax. Whatnot: An 8% commission on the $10 item price = $0.80"
• Whatnot's own high-value example: a $2,000 item in a qualifying category pays commission on the first $1,500 only, $120. Page says: commission $120.00. "You are US-based seller who sells an item in a qualifying category for $2,000 You will be charged standard commission (for the US, 8%) on the first $1,500. Your total commission fee will be $120. You will be charged 0% c"

• Other markets: Whatnot publishes separate tier tables for Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Australia, and flat rates for Japan; EU and UK rates are subject to VAT and their processing fee is 2.42% + €/£0.25
• Premier Shop discount (10% off the commission rate until November 1, 2026, when it ended in every market with tiered rates; it continues only in Japan)
• Promotional rates (new-seller 0% fees, launch and limited-time category promotions) and custom rates for the highest-volume sellers
• The flat rates that applied through September 27, 2026 to sellers who gained selling access after September 21, including the 4% Pallets rate

Notes

• Re-read 2026-09-28. Whatnot replaced its flat commission table with tiered rates on September 21, 2026. At the Standard tier the rates are what they were: 8% in every group except Coins, 4%.
• Re-read 2026-10-26. Whatnot rewrote 'Reduced commission on Coins & Money' on October 21, 2026. It now says live-show categories are Coins & Bullion, Paper Money & Currency, Gold Nuggets and Ancient Coins (marketplace listings: Coins & Bullion and Paper Money & Currency), and gives the 4% only in its VAT section ('VAT-registered sellers pay 4% commission'); for US rates it sends the reader to the seller-fees table, whose Coins row is unchanged at the Standard tier. Payment processing fees are 'separate and still apply'. The two quotes from the old wording were replaced; no rate changed.
• The fee page names six category groups (Sports, TCG, Fashion, Other Collectibles, Coins, Other) and does not list which product categories fall in each; a seller's own rate card is in Seller Hub.
• Tier is set by total sales in all categories over the previous four-week period; private shows, local pickup orders and cancelled orders do not count.
• High-value orders: the promotion's article is dated July 31, 2026, before the tiered structure, and its example uses the 8% standard rate on the first $1,500. How the promotion combines with a lower tier rate is not stated on the loaded pages; this calculator applies the selected tier's rate to the first $1,500. The promotion is limited-time and Whatnot may end it at any time. Eligible categories: Comics & Anime, Toys & Hobbies, Coins & Money, Trading Card Games, Entertainment Cards, Sports Singles subcategories, Bags & Accessories, Jewelry & Watches; sports breaks and Surprise Products are excluded.
• Premier Shop: as of November 1, 2026 it no longer includes a 10% commission discount in markets with tiered rates, the US among them. Japan, which has no tiered rates, keeps the discount. Not computed here.
• Rates 'as low as 3%' are custom rates for the highest-volume sellers and are not on the public table.
• The 'Sell More, Earn More' article, the earlier test of tiered rates, is no longer published (404 on 2026-09-28).
• Payment processing uses the buyer's total including sales tax, so an exact fee needs shipping and buyer tax as inputs.
• Taxes on fees: sellers in DC, HI, NM, WV pay state sales tax on the commission; sellers in CT (special 1% rate), HI, NM, OH, SD, TX (standard rate reduced by 20%) and WV pay it on the payment processing fee. Not computed.
• Re-read 2026-10-12. Whatnot updated the fees article on October 1, 2026: it now says a seller who joined after September 21, 2026 moved to the new structure at 12:00 a.m. local time on the following Monday, and that this continues for new sellers (its example: access on Wednesday, October 7 activates the new rates on Monday, October 12). The page does not say what rate a new seller pays before that Monday. The rate table is unchanged.
• Re-read 2026-11-04. Whatnot updated the fees article on November 1, 2026. Its Premier Shop answer now says the 10% commission discount ended that day in markets with tiered rates and continues in Japan, which is what this schedule already said would happen. The two old quotes were replaced. The US rate table, the tiers and payment processing all still match the page, and the calculator never computed the discount, so no published fee moved.
