On a $100.00 sale with the default settings, Patreon takes $13.20 and you keep $86.80 — an effective rate of 13.20%. Patreon's standard plan takes 10% of each payment plus 2.9% + $0.30 processing (3.9% + $0.30 for PayPal or Venmo members outside the US). Legacy plans take 5%, 8% or 11%, with micropayment rates on tiers of $3 or less.

How the fee is built
Patreon takes a platform fee on each successfully processed payment, excluding sales tax: 10% on the standard plan for pages published after August 4, 2025, and 5%, 8% or 11% on the legacy Founders, Pro and Pro + Merch plans. Payment processing is charged on the payment including tax: 2.9% + $0.30 for cards, Apple Pay and US PayPal or Venmo, and 3.9% + $0.30 for PayPal or Venmo members outside the US. Legacy plans pay micropayment rates of 5% + $0.10 (6% + $0.10 for non-US PayPal) on tiers of $3 or less; the standard plan does not. Founders pay 1.6% + $0.30 on cards and 2.65% + $0.28 on PayPal or Venmo. A 2.5% currency conversion fee applies when a member pays in another currency. Payouts cost $0.25 by US direct deposit or 1% to PayPal (minimum $0.25, capped at $20).
