Patreon takes a platform fee on each successfully processed payment, excluding sales tax: 10% on the standard plan for pages published after August 4, 2025, and 5%, 8% or 11% on the legacy Founders, Pro and Pro + Merch plans. Payment processing is charged on the payment including tax: 2.9% + $0.30 for cards, Apple Pay and US PayPal or Venmo, and 3.9% + $0.30 for PayPal or Venmo members outside the US. Legacy plans pay micropayment rates of 5% + $0.10 (6% + $0.10 for non-US PayPal) on tiers of $3 or less; the standard plan does not. Founders pay 1.6% + $0.30 on cards and 2.65% + $0.28 on PayPal or Venmo. A 2.5% currency conversion fee applies when a member pays in another currency. Payouts cost $0.25 by US direct deposit or 1% to PayPal (minimum $0.25, capped at $20).

Not included
- Apple's 30% App Store fee on purchases made through Apple's in-app purchase system in the Patreon iOS app. Patreon says it replaces the processing fee for that transaction but does not state the amount it is charged on.
- VAT, GST or sales tax that Patreon collects on platform fees in some locations.
- Non-USD payout currencies. Patreon publishes separate processing rates for EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD and nine other currencies.
- Payoneer payouts and bank transfers for creators outside the US, and PayPal's own fees for moving money to a bank.
Notes
- The standard 10% plan applies to pages published after August 4, 2025. Earlier pages keep their legacy plan unless the page is unpublished and republished.
- Patreon's overview says the standard plan 'applies the same processing rates to all payments, regardless of amount', while its August 2025 article labels that column '> $3'. The calculator follows the overview, so standard-plan payments of $3 or less pay 2.9% + $0.30.
- The platform fee is charged on the payment excluding tax. Processing and currency conversion are charged on the payment including tax.
- Founders who changed their payout currency keep the 5% platform fee but pay standard processing rates instead of the Founders rates. The calculator's Founders option uses the Founders rates.
- The payout fee is charged per payout, not per payment. The calculator applies it as if this payment were paid out on its own.
- Patreon's Founders section says tiers of $3 or less are subject to micropayment rates, but its Founders table lists only 1.6% + $0.30 and 2.65% + $0.28. For Founders tiers of $3 or less the calculator uses those listed rates, so your actual rate may differ.
- Patreon publishes no rounding rule; the calculator rounds each fee half-up to the cent.
